How To Use This Website
Start with Success (SWS) is both a source of learning and a portal to other sites with helpful information. The left side navigation menu connects you to the features of SWS.
  • The "General Information" menu choices may be viewed as soon as you reach the site.
  • You must register as an SWS user to have access to the "Professional learning" content and portals to other sites. You only need to do this once.
Effective SWS User Practices
  1. When you visit SWS check out the "What's New?" section.
  2. If you are registered - login. If not registered, do so.
  3. Use the Professional Learning menus to find what you need to know.
    • Check out the Learning Library for online courses
    • Review tools and resources
    • Scan "Educator Learning of the Month" to stay current
    • Use "Learning Links" to find portals to other sites
About using the various sections of SWS:

To Register: Look for Register for Full Access in the upper right corner. Click on it and follow the directions given.

Take a Tutorial Journey on Life as a Teacher: Click on the New Teacher Tutorial. Explore and return as often as your wish.

Find an On-line Course: Register, select Learning Library from the Professional Learning menu, and review the courses provided.

Find Resources: To learn about the Florida Continuous Improvement Model, the Educator Accomplished Practices, the Code of Ethics, and effective Educator Strategies, select Resources from the Professional Learning menu, and choose an option on the left side resources menu.

Benefit from Collegial Sharing: Click on the menu choices here to review ideas and recommendations from master teachers and those who have completed their beginning teacher experience.

Find Portals (links) to Other Sites: The Learning Links section offers you suggestions from other educators on websites they have found useful.

Use Educator Tools: Learn about the state's Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) and how to construct yours. Check out information on Lesson planning and state standards.

Mentor Teachers: Teacher-educators and teachers approved by their district or school principal to serve as mentors or supervising teachers will find resources here to assist in your tasks. Verification of your approval to perform these mentoring tasks is required before access is granted.
